The RadMan 2LT and RadMan 2XT radiation monitors are warning devices for the protection of people who are in work areas with increased electromagnetic radiation. Broadcast, telecommunications, and radar antennas are examples of strong radio frequency radiation sources. Electromagnetic Energy/Electromagnetic Fields (EME/EMF). The inexpensive device is worn on the body and warns the user in good time before the permissible limit values are exceeded.
RadMan 2LT and RadMan 2XT comply with the ITU-T K.145 recommendations related to the use and characteristics of personal radiation monitors.

Display and warning signals

The current field exposure is displayed via LEDs in six levels from 5% to 200%. The percentage corresponds to the exhaustion of the limit value of a personal protection standard about the power density. If the field exposure exceeds 50%, a loud alarm tone will be generated and the device will vibrate. In addition, a bright indicator light is integrated into the upper part of the RadMan 2, which is easy to see from different perspectives and flashes red in time with the alarm. A second alarm threshold of 100% gives an even more urgent warning and you should leave the danger area.

Standard compliance

The permissible limits specified in the standards are frequency-dependent. Weighting filters in the RadMan 2 sensors emulate the frequency response and ensure that the alarm thresholds are always set correctly for all radio signal frequencies.

Can be used in the near and far field

In the near field of a radiation source, the otherwise fixed relationship between the electric and magnetic fields does not apply. Therefore, both field types must be checked. RadMan 2 has E-field and H-field sensors and therefore gives a reliable warning, regardless of the distance to the radiation source.

Minimal influence by the body.

Personal monitors are mainly worn on the body. To enable easy attachment to a harness or belt, RadMan 2 comes with a suitable mount with an integrated RF absorber. The RF absorber reduces the signal reflections caused by the body, which would affect the display result of the monitor. If necessary, the RadMan 2 can be removed from the holder with one hand to determine field exposures away from the body with isotropic directional characteristics. A stretchable safety cord between the device and holder prevents it from falling.

Integrated sensor test

The newly developed and patented sensor test, which checks the proper function of the individual sensors every time the RadMan 2 is switched on, provides a further plus in safety.

Recording with the data recorder

The RadMan 2 continuously stores E-field and H-field exposure values and adds a time stamp to each record. When the ring memory is full, the oldest data records are simply replaced with the current ones. Up to 100,000 events can be recorded and stored.

PC software

With the RadMan 2-TS software, the contents of the RadMan 2 data recorder can be transferred to a PC via the USB interface. The maximum exposure values that have occurred as well as the average exposure values can be displayed as a table or graphically as a time course. The software can also display exposure values in live operation and it allows configuration of the RadMan 2XT. The current version can be downloaded for free.

Range of functions of the RadMan 2XT

The RadMan 2XT offers a greater range of functions than the RadMan 2LT. The E-field sensors of the RadMan 2XT are suitable for a wide frequency range from approx. 1 MHz to 40 GHz. The device can therefore also warn of directional radio, 5G mobile phones and radar signals in this frequency range. For reliable detection of pulsed radar signals, the integration time can be switched from 1 s (RMS mode) to 30 ms (peak mode) on the device itself. This is displayed on the device. The RadMan 2XT data recorder is equipped with larger memory and has configurable storage intervals.

The additional "RF Detection" operating mode with tone search function enables a precise search for leaks on waveguides and coaxial screw connections. Due to the change in pitch when approaching a field source, the shutdown of antennas can also be checked quickly and easily.
